What are Maximo views used for?

Asan example, I've imported/created a view that rolls up tasks to their WOs (extends WORKORDER). Could I make an ad-hoc report from the view?

Or could I use the calculated fields in that view as fields in the Work Order Tracking Application?

Views are the same as you would design using an SQL statement that can be imported into Maximo.  From there you can, then use it almost like another object including relationships and reporting.
