Welcome to our latest edition of Product Potpourri! 

Below you'll find questions raised by students from the Apptio University Instructor-led classes.  Actually, in this case, all four were raised in our Creating Reports To Defend Your Numbers (CRDN) class.  As an Instructor, I always enjoy all of the questions in class, and it's always great to share them with all of you.  If you haven't taken this class I definitely recommend it!  We recently updated this class with new information, a new student guide with additional report-building information, more focus on report formatting, and it's a perfect springboard for the follow-up Data Validation class as well. 

The answer to this is yes, it's actually very easy.  To move multiple report components at once simply hold down the CTRL button and select the components you'd like to move.  This will allow you to select multiple components at once and simply drag them to their new locations.  This same technique can be used when formatting your report by holding down CTRL, selecting multiple components, and then organizing the layout of multiple components using the functions found under the Format tab.  If you'd like more information on the Format tab we now cover this in more depth in the updated Creating Reports to Defend Your Numbers class.

 
Are there buttons to left justify, center, or right justify a header of a report component? In this case, this isn't functionality that we currently have in Apptio.  The recommendation would be to bring this up with your Apptio team and ask that this be entered as a new functionality request.  We can't promise that it'll be added to our system immediately, but we always want to know what types of functionality our clients are requesting.

 
When you create a report in Self Service Reporting (SSR) can you create them by a role as well as yourself or everyone? 

This functionality is subject to change, but currently, SSR can only create reports either for yourself or everyone.  If you'd like to have reports access as "by role" added please make a product enhancement request through your Apptio team, or through our Apptio Support group.

At this time you can only rename a single column in a table being used in a report at a time. To rename a report column right-click on the column name and choose "rename" from the list.
