I'm fairly new to weighting data. Would any good Samaritan be willing to give me some tips on the RAKE function?

The SPSSINC RAKE extension command installs with a file

    Raking with IBM SPSS Statistics.pdf

that gives you an overview of raking - how it works, how to use it, and statistical properties.

To find this file, run SHOW EXT in a syntax window. Then look at the EXTENSIONS section of the output table. That will show a list of directories where extensions might be installed. Look in each one until you find a directory that has an SPSSINC_RAKE subdirectory. The pdf file will be there.

    So helpful! Thank you, Jon.

One question, output from the weighted dataset vs. the unweighted dataset differs in the number of cases. This may have been covered in the PDF but I'm not sure I totally understood it. Here is an example: A crosstab for the question of how residents would rate the city by Hispanic/Latino (Y/N) has at total of 364 cases in the weighted dataset. It has 384 in the unweighted dataset. What am I missing? Thanks for your help!

Normally, the weighted and unweighted count totals will be equal unless you have specified a total total to sum to. However, if some of the variables used in the weight specification have missing values, those cases can't be assigned a weight. You can see that those cases would have a system missing value for the weight.
