    hdisk0 RAID 10 - 2 disks 142.8 GB
    hdisk1 RAID 10 - 2 disks 71.4 GB
    hdisk2 RAID 5 - 4 disks 428.5 GB

The VIO Server (1.3) is installed on hdisk1, and serves up logical volumes to LPARS from hdisk2.

We want to install AIX 5.3 on hdisk0 which when required can boot with all system resources, but also run with VIO Server serving up hdisk0 as a vscsi under an alternate profile. This has worked before for us, but that was before we installed the RAID Enablement Controller.

When I run mkvdev -vdev hdisk0 -vadapter vhost1 I get the error:

0513-070 Only disks that support multi-path I/O (MPIO or which have a PVID may be used as a virtual target device.

    Any suggestions?

Could you post the output of lspv command? if there is not PVID, you might try this command then run mkvdev

    chdev -l hdiskxx -a pv=yes (under OEM_SETUP_ENV SHELL)

    then under padmin

    mkvdev -vdev hdiskxx -vadapter vhostxx

    Thanks,

Now I only have about 100 other issues to go through. After three years of working on VMware ESX, I am beginning to hate VIO....
