​I would like to use the result of a report as a source for a dashboard and the only way that I was able to achieve that is by saving the output of the report in excel, export it, upload it back as a dataset and from there use it as a source for my dashboard. I need to manipulate the data extensively to get to the result needed for my dashboard and cannot use only Dashboard tools to achieve what I need. This involves manual intervention to refresh the dashboard every time and does not seems like an acceptable solution for an enterprise solution such as Cognos. We are currently using Cognos 11.0.7. Is there a better way to achieve that?

In CA 11.1.x You can create queries within Data Modules and join to get final queries to be used for both Report and dashboard.
In CA 11.0.9, to achieve the same, you may build logic within Dataset (after opening in query mode 0 ctrl + alt + M).
