Hi, I'm using spss for my master's dissertation and have encountered a problem.

I had an original sample size of 11,000 out of which only 6,000 had clinical examination done. The clinical variable for this orginally was a continuous data form with multiple values, which I dichotomised so there are only two categories for this single variable now. But once I ran the frequencies, this new computed variable is now showing a sample size of 11,000 instead of 6,000. Can someone tell me what the problem might be and how can I correct this?

Review the data cleaning process and verify that missing values were handled appropriately. You may need to handle missing values separately or exclude them from the analysis if appropriate.

Hi, can you tell me how to carry out this process? I did initially delete all the values that hadn't received a response but I was thinking maybe that's what lead to the problem? I'm lost because it's my first time trying to actually use SPSS, I have in the past but only to formulate tables and charts.
