In our data environment all external file uploads are deactivated. None of the CA users has the ability to upload data into the system. Instead we use a centralized data warehouse which covers all needed data of all subsidiaries. It also includes a consolidation mart where measures are unified into the company currency etc.
The process behind this DWH is an ETL system which loads the data daily into the system. Monday to Saturday it's a delta load and each Sunday we load all data fresh into the system. We also integrate external files into the DWH via the ETL processes, but only a very few users can edit those files in the shared directory where the ETL process pulls the data from.
Works perfectly and this consistent DWH has saved us lots of time in other projects where we rely on accurate data.
