I'm about to install a new TSM Server.
I've found interesting material in the following redbooks:
    sg245416 and sg247379

    what we've planned :
    p55A 4ways 1.9 GHz, 16GB Ram.
TSM DB on 4 HDD 15Krpm , using "tsm mirroring"
TSM Log on rootvg disks, using aix mirroring

TSM DB is spread onto several db files (each approx 5 Gb)

I'm still looking for details on the best disk layout possible :

    • Should the DB files be placed on a single FS, or several ?
Reading sg245416, I'm not sure what logical volumes is written about:
"And finally, due to locking and threading information in the Tivoli Storage
Manager server code, smaller logical database volumes tend to perform better
than the larger ones. This is primarily due to Tivoli Storage Manager server code locking and threading considerations."

    • Should we use CIO for these TSM DB Filesystems ?

    • Should we stripe the pairs of TSM DB LV's ?
    Thanks for your advice,
    Andrew
