  • 1.  Trouble with LIcense Key in SUSE 11 Open Source

    Posted Tue May 31, 2016 12:01 PM

We have made the installation of NTTS 9.1 on an Open Suse 11 patch 4, we have pricked the USB key into the Linux machine and we have extracted the files .nlf  and .upw on the same path that the SecureUpdateUtility command, and when trying to license the product with the command SecureUpdateUtility have trouble because it returns the following error:

    Try with -n (License new):

    lnxrdte01:/usr/z1090/bin # ./SecureUpdateUtility -n adcd.nlf

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                         Secure Update Utility

                          Sentinel Keys 1.3.1

Copyright (C) 2009 SafeNet Inc. All rights reserved.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Could not update license!

And if we try with  -u (update):

    lnxrdte01:/usr/z1090/bin # ./SecureUpdateUtility -u RDT-01207-201608232359-3CP-0I-0.upw

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                         Secure Update Utility

                          Sentinel Keys 1.3.1

Copyright (C) 2009 SafeNet Inc. All rights reserved.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Could not update license!

We have tried to repeat the installation of the license in a VM with REDHAT 6.5 and works properly with the same USB key and the same files, Which may be the problem?

    Thank's a lot in advance.

    Regards.

    David.

    Hi David,

On your SuSE system do you have the 32-bit libraries installed, specifically libstdc++?

    Regards,

    Rick

    Hi David,

When you are trying to update the license key are you running as root?

    Regards,

    Rick

    Hi David,

Here are some additional things to try, to try to help with the troubleshooting.

-First I notice that in the commands that you have shown here, you are not giving the full path to the nlf or upw when using the SecureUpdateUtility.  Can you retry the commands with full path qualifiers to the files?

-If that doesn't work can you try running the lsusb command to see whether or not the system sees the hardware device correctly.  If it is correctly mounted you should see an entry that shows "Rainbow Technologies Inc".

-If all of this fails, can we get the following background.  What version of RD&T are you using, and has this worked in the past on this system, or is this the first time trying to activate a key on this system.

    Regards,

    Rick

Hi Rick, my problem is resolved, we have installed the distribution Linux REDHAT 5.11, instead SUSE and the Sentinel Key is running normally, we don't know why with the SUSE distribution don't run... Anyway, thank you so much for your interest and assistance.

    Hi David,

Can you check the permissions on /usr/z1090/uim/ also if /usr/z1090/uim/uimclient.db exists can you check to see what permissions are on this file?  Also did you execute the aws_bashrc command, and if you did do you recall if you ran this as root or as a non-root id?

    Thanks,

    Rick
