Hey all, we're exploring using Direct Issue items on Job Plans and I can't quite get a "procurement lead time" factored into
when the PR needs to be generated.
I set up a lead time on the PM to launch the WO 6 months early so I can order Part A, which has a 6 month lead time, from Supplier A.
There are also 9 other parts (Parts B-K), but with a 1 week lead time, from Supplier B, so I do not want to order these until 1 month before the WO due date.
I have the Inventory record for Part A's reorder lead time set to 180 days, and Parts B-K at 30 days, but the direct order function appears to ignore it.
Seems like the only way I can get Part A to flip to a PR is if I plug in Additional Lead Time (Days) of 180 days (6 months) in the reorder window. But that will also create a PR for Parts B-K. I don't want to send the PR to Supplier B at this point. The supplier could fulfill the order early, or the WO may get pushed out - causing extra PR rework.
My desired end goal is the reorder crontask would: generate a PR the same day the WO is launched for Part A, and a second PR 5 months from now for the remaining parts. Can this be achieved out of the box and I'm just overlooking something?
I did find that if i set those item's reorder points to negative 1, check include soft reservations, and uncheck Direct Issue on the JP, the regular stock reorder would behave in the desired way. However, the PRs don't reference the Work Order number, and it doesn't automatically change the WO's status to WMATL. I'd prefer the PR/PO be tied to the WO, so it's not an ideal work around.
Thanks,
Gail
