  • 1.  Strange issue with upgrade from 5.3 ML5 to 5.3 TL9

After that i download the latest upgrade pack of TL9 (AIX 5.3 TL9 SP2, of course including the TL9 technology level).     I am sure that i have download all the latest update TL9 package (SP2) included Technology Level 9. If you check the outputs you can see that all the other packages have been upgraded. I download the SP2 only update package without the technology level and performed the update. Nothing same view. Any opinion for solving this issue?

    The 5.3.0.60 level of the X11 fileset is in an earlier TL and I suspect the same is true for the other one. At TL7 fileset numbering changed to 5.3.7. Although you are supposed to be able to skip TL levels I have found that they won't have every fix for every fileset for software like X11 that is not required.
    Go back to FixCentral and get the latest versions of those two filesets. Add them to your TL9 repository so they'll be available to the next system you upgrade.

    I too had a similar issue (different filesets) when moving from a few TL levels back to TL9. It was resolved by re-running the smitty update_all on the TL9 filesets that I downloaded from SUMA. With the previous post, I believe it might have been resolved by having the interim (latest as of previous to TL9 filesets) also downloaded through SUMA.
