  • 1.  SPSS Shows Question Marks After Importing Excel File

    Dear SPSS Community,

    When I upload an Excel file into SPSS, the preview looks perfectly fine. However, after clicking "OK" and loading the worksheet, only question marks ("?") appear (please see the attached screenshot).

    Does anyone know why this issue occurs and how I can resolve it?

    Hi @Philipp Kaufmann,
    What version of IBM SPSS Statistics are you running and is it the most updated release (27.0.1.0, 28.0.1.1, 29.0.2.0, or 30.0.0.0)?
    Is this behavior confined to one Excel file?  Or does it happen for any Excel file?  How about "C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS Statistics\Samples\English\demo.xlsx" that ships with the product?

    It would probably be best for you to open a Support case here so that we might examine your configuration and the file more closely.

    Hi @Philipp Kaufmann,

    Probably not relevant, but when I receive an .xlsx file from someone else, I often have to open it and simply resave it and then it allows me to open it cleanly in SPSS.
