Hi, I'm boomer generation gal using SPSS 30 in a college course that uses the YouTube series "SPSS with Puppies" (which uses SPSS 27) as an instructional aid.  Anyone kind enough to reply, please know that I learned to type on a typewriter and am a total digital immigrant.  I'm stuck on the 4th episode using the Transform command, trying to get the 5 puppy toys binned down to 3. I am able to recode the old values to new ones, press continue, but can't seem to get past that point to get the new output variable to populate.  If you can instruct me how to take a screenshot of this to make my situation more clear I can attach that.

    Thank you! : ) Kim

Once you have filled out the dialog fields, you should press OK to run the command.  Continue just takes you back to the main dialog.  If OK and Paste are disabled, there is a required field that is not filled in.  Usually it is the new variable name if you are using Recode into Different (which is the better choice).  If you are using Recode into Same, there is some field missing in the subdialog.
