Hi Jon, thanks for your reply, the Window Reset trick works.
It is a confounding quirk... I wonder if this setting can be turned off, or if I just have to live with having to reset windows every time I switch work sites?

SPSS has remembered the window locations and has restored them, not knowing that one is not present. You can use Window > Reset sizes and position to bring them back on screen.
There is a keyboard gesture to move a window, too, but it depends on the OS. On Win 10, you can set focus on the window via the toolbar or Windows menu. Then do alt+spacebar. That brings up the system menu, so you do downcursor twice and then enter and you will see the Move system menu. Use the cursor keys in the appropriate direction to get the window back on screen

Subject: SPSS 29 Dataset file not showing
Hi, I have a curly problem that I can't find any solutions online yet. I am a new user of v29 installed on a Win10 laptop. At work I connect to a hotdesk external monitor and I have the open dataset files showing on the extension monitor. The next day working from home I can open the same files, and I can see them open by the icons on the taskbar, but nothing shows up when clicking on the Dataset file icons. The output file, which I leave to display on the laptop monitor at work, shows up fine at home. It's as if v29 thinks there is an extension monitor still attached to the laptop, even though the laptop settings clearly show there is none. The same problem occurs when opening any dataset files I didn't use at work. I previously had v24 on the same laptop and never came across this problem. Would be grateful for any advice to solve this.
