    Hi Cognos Community!

We have a dashboard with 7 tabs of 2021 data (January - Dec). We will be capturing the same data for 2022. Would you recommend making a copy of the 2021 dashboard and starting from January 2022 with the new data or is there a view/parameter that can be created so that making a copy isn't needed? I would love to hear the different ways in Cognos you can display data YoY.

There is also a request for us to incorporate a 12 month lagging YTD calendar view. Is this possible in Cognos?

Greatly appreciate any insights and help - thank you!

    Hi Kat,
what's your current data source for the dashboard and how is the time information stored there? I mean is it just one single column or are the informations somehow aggregated?

If I think about our table structure we have columns for date, month, year etc. in our core calendar and just add a filter for year to the dashboard. Then every user can just swap the year with a click.

    Hi Kat,

If you are using a data module, you might want to use relative time feature:
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cognos-analytics/11.2.0?topic=analysis-creating-data-module-relative-date
    or
    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cognos-analytics/11.1.0?topic=analysis-creating-data-module-relative-date

Edited to add the following and the screenshot:
This relative time, you will be able to use YTD and Prior YTD.

    Best regards,

Hi, Depending on the type of source you can create a calculation in the dashboard like "year(DATE) - year(current_date)" (replace DATE by your date field reference), drag this calculation into a filter tab and select the value 0 there.
