We are looking into decommissioning some Storwize/Flashystems... I found the "chdrive -erase" command on newer machine/code....

Can someone tell me from which code  this was implemented and if there is way to erase data on older hardware/code such as 7.8x and prior ?

From the documentation we can say that the erase operation started in 8.3.x

. 

I hope someone else knows how to erase in previous codes to that.

The "chdrive -erase" command was introduced in later versions of the Storwize/Flashsystems code. Unfortunately, this feature isn't available in older hardware/code like version 7.8x and prior.
