    Hi, does anyone have any experience of using Bob to convert RPG to SQL? If so, I would greatly appreciate your input.

    Hi Neal,

    what exactly do you want to do? Convert a RPG program with SETLL/READ/CHAIN to embedded SQL?

    That would be a somehow bad idea. Converting such a program flow directly to SQL (with cursors and select into) wouldn't give you any advantage over the native access. 

    Converting all those CHAINs and SETLL/READEs to a JOINed SQL statement is possible, but you should work that out with Bob. 

    First let Bob analyze and explain the business and program logic - let him save the result as a MarkDown document. 

    Then let Bob make a plan - based on the program and the MarkDown from step 1.

    Review that plan from step 2 - if you think that's good, let Bob do it. 

    Be prepared that Bob will rework your sources a lot. And be prepared to test the results a lot.
