    Hello,

Is there a way by which the rollover value for an asset meter  can be reset to null/empty value ?

    Hello Tom,

Regarding your inquiry about resetting meter readings to zero while maintaining historical records in Maximo, this is achievable through the continuous meter configuration. At Port Nelson, we frequently implement this for analog meters on older mobile equipment that physically reset after reaching maximum capacities (e.g., 10,000-hour dials).

    Key Considerations:
Continuous meters require regular readings to ensure accurate average calculations. Infrequent data entries may prevent proper rollover detection. For optimal results:

    1. Verify Historical Data: Identify the last recorded reading and its date prior to the reset window. This must reflect actual operational conditions for valid baseline calculations.

    2. Threshold Alignment: Configure the rollover value to match your equipment's physical meter limit (e.g., 10,000 hours). This synchronises digital records with mechanical resets.

    Implementation Procedure:

    1. Navigate to the Assets application and select the relevant asset record

    2. Choose Reset/Replace Meters from the action menu

    3. Under View Details, populate these critical fields:

      • Rollover: Enter maximum meter capacity (e.g., 10000)

      • Since Last Inspection: Set to 0 for reset initialisation

      • Maintain other fields (Since Last Repair, Since Install, etc.) per maintenance history... but I usually leave these empty, if the purpose was meter-rollover.

    4. Confirm changes with OK

See IBM's documentation (Maximo Meter Reset). For visual guidance, Maximosecrets' walkthrough (Rollover Section) provide supplementary diagrams.

    Operational Tip:
Schedule readings near expected rollover thresholds (e.g., 9,900 hours) to simplify transition management and minimise data interpolation errors.

Please advise if you encounter configuration challenges or require validation of your test cases.

    Best regards, Tina.

    Thanks @Agustina Rajino @Juris Flugins

There is already a Rollover value for my asset meter, I now need to set it to empty/null value, not zero.

    See the attached.

    Hello!

You really wan't to change rollover value to zero? Not them meter/counter value it self?

Why would You need to do that?

But with some escalation, I think, it would be possible, I think.

    Hi Juris,
I wonder these all would link to various functionality and calculations within Maximo, which obviously would be historical.
I think modifying meter rollover values (programmatically through Maximo escalations, or other ways) introduces significant risks to data integrity, operational continuity, and system functionality. While automation can streamline processes, improper handling of rollover values may lead to miscalculations in meter deltas, cascading errors in dependent workflows, and inconsistencies in maintenance scheduling.

Left alone the possible existence of past and historical Work Order, Preventive Maintenance frequency, and so on that need fixing.

    Just a thought...

    Tom,
We might need to know first the reason why the user is aiming to achieve this, or what original problem to fix, there might be other solution(s) that can be proposed to solve the original problem?

I'm in 7.6.1.2 still and MxLoader works for removing the value.  Upload ~NULL~ in the rollover field.
