  • 1.  Response Actions in Maximo Response Plans

    Posted Wed June 04, 2025 09:10 AM
I am looking for answer to the following question.

When I add response actions in my response plan, I feel that they are not executed every time the response plan is applied to a specific work order. Can anyone confirm that there is a setting for these actions that they are only executed once during the WO life is the response plan is applied multiple time throughout the WO life?

    Hello Hanna,

I do not believe there are any settings for controlling whether actions in a subsequent response plan should be applied.  I read through the original design earlier and it stated the new actions and notifications should be taken.  There are some rules about whether a ticket template or job plan in the response plan are applied.  The general concept is if a ticket template or job plan has been applied to the ticket or work order in a previous response plan then these will not be overridden when applying a new response plan.

    Thanks,

    Hi Hanna,

Multiple Response Plans can be applied to a work order, the Response Plan field bottom right of the main screen has a History option. I believe you will get an error when trying to apply Response Plans and the same response plan is selected and this was the last one applied. You can try duplicating your response plan and changing the conditions so that one is applied initially and the second is applied later in the life of the work order. It is possible for the same Response Plan to be applied a second time to the same work order, but you need a different Response Plan being applied in between (I did a test to prove this).

Response Actions create an on-demand Escalation that are designed to be run once, they are executed either by the application action Apply Response Plan or using an Escalation with an Action with type APPACTION and value APPLYRP.

As @Thomas Knowles says you cannot have a Ticket Template or Job Plan being applied twice, but there is a setting on what to do if Maximo finds it cannot apply the Ticket Template or Job Plan, it will continue to set all the other values and response actions, unless you set the field - Stop Response Plan if Job Plan or Ticket Template can not be applied?

    Regards - Andrew
