  • 1.  Resilient Table Sizing

    Posted 07/30/20 01:12 PM
    Hi all,

Recently an idea I entered in aha.io here was declined: Allow custom text in place of "lorem ipsum" in "Create Data Table" wizard

It did not have any votes, so I understand why it was declined. However, I don't understand why it had no votes.

How do you all size Resilient data tables so the columns are of the right size? Perhaps it's not well understood that you can statically set the sizing within the config wizard or maybe data tables are just not really utilized to their full potential?

Looking for thoughts or feedback on this. I was disappointed to see this was declined.

    Hey Jared,

I typically leave data table column size up to the user. This is partially because I am lazy and partially because there might be different sized displays used, so what looks good on my screen might not look good on theirs.

    Sorry that's not very satisfying!

Thanks for the feedback Liam. I wonder if this is what others are doing.

We tend to size the columns for the type of data they will have. For example, an ID column will be sized to fit 6 characters (for example) where as a URL column will be much longer.
