I'm trying to get a rough estimate for the storage requirement of a standard AIX installation . We're planing for a SAN boot for the servers and I would like to know the average disk requirement for an LPAR.

I do understand that each partition will require respective paging space based on the real memory availability. I would like to know about the usage for other LVs. I have had no prior experience with SAN booting, and I do not have a sovereign system to get this info; therefore, any information (even df outputs of servers) will be highly appreciated.

    Thanking,

It really doesn't take much at all to install AIX (you could do it with 10G) but the things that do take space are how large you normally make /var,/tmp and how much swap you need. There are no additional space requirements that I've seen when doing SAN boot as compared to non-SAN.
