Reports Slow When Editing and Running from Editor

  • 1.  Reports Slow When Editing and Running from Editor

    Hello everyone...

I'm seeing a strange issue in 11.1.7 that I was hoping someone else has encountered.  I have reports that run fine when run from the portal (runs in a few seconds - both the prompt page and the report).  When I edit the report, it first takes several minutes before I can see the layout and buttons.  Nothing is spinning, it just sits there for several minutes before finally showing the layout.

When I try and run a report from the editor, it takes several minutes to actually run.  Same issue as above, where it just sits there and does nothing for a few minutes before finally running the report.

Here is what I have tried so far:

    • Test using the dispatcher and bypassing the gateway (same error - no difference)
    • Reinstall the Cognos 11.1.7 software - (same error - no difference)
    • Clear cache/other browsers/private/incognito mode - (same error - no difference)

This is on a dev standalone single server.  I have an identical QA server running everything the same and the issue does not exist there, so I don't think it's a bug or issue with the server.

If anyone has run into this issue or something similar, please let me know as I am not sure what else to try at this point.

    Hi Todd,

I've seen strange behavior with anti-virus software, it might be an idea to check.

The other idea would be to disable customized extensions and views, so you start Cognos Analytics with the URL <webserver_name>:<port_number>/bi/?factoryMode=true

    Best regards,
