    Dear Jerry

    I do not know why you still want to write COBOL codes but from my experience, COBOL is practically a dead language for IBM i, especially for writing new codes.  There has been less than enough enhancements, if at all, to COBOL over the past 20 years or so.  You will spend more productive time using free-format RPG instead as it has all the advanced enhancements a programmer wants.  MC Press sells books on modern RPG programming.
