Response from support:
Yes, trying a -clean would certainly be a good idea to try. To doing this with RDI 9.8 is much the same as with RDI 9.6. The easy way is to open a Command Prompt window then change (cd) to the RDI 9.8 install directory then run the command:
RDi.exe -clean
This didn't work so I ended up changing the workspace that was being opened, on the initial dialog, which creates a new workspace. When flipping between the two, I still experienced the Initializing Projects in the old workspace even though the new one was working fine. I ended up deleting the old one and just recreating all my connections.
Currently, I'm only using RDi for the X-Analysis plug-in, as it is Eclipse based. I do development with VSC and the IBM i extension.

With RDi 9.6 we used to be able to add -clean to the end of the startup line. Is this still an option in 9.8.0.2? Mine has been stuck on "Initializing Projects" for a couple days now.
