    Hi, I have been attempting to download and use R essentials for SPSS for a while now and was just able to download it today. I don't understand if I absolutely need the WRS2 package or what purpose it serves, but do I need it and how would I get it for version 29 of SPSS? 

    Also, I don't understand something, are the syntax windows and R essentials the same exact thing or is there a big difference? I am currently already using the data view, but I was wondering, what reason would I have to use "codes" on R or the syntax window?

    IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0 ships with its own instance of R and R-Essentials.  There should be no reason for you to download or configure anything.  It should be running out of the box in an SPSS Statistics command syntax window using the BEGIN PROGRAM R -- END PROGRAM command syntax.

    Adding to David's comments.
    The WRS2 package would not be needed unless you were using a specific R program that required it.

    Many extension commands (over 50) are implemented in R.  These are not installed automatically with SPSS Statistics, but you can go to the Extensions > Extension Hub menu and install any that you want.  There are also 50 or sixty Python-based extensions, but you don't need to know the difference as all the prerequisites are installed with Statistics or are installed as needed with specific extensions.

    Extensions commands look and work like the built-in commands, including having a dialog box interface and traditional SPSS-style syntax.

    Hello, I tried that and was able to download the extensions. I wasn't sure if I needed them or not, but I'll have them if I do. Also, thank you for pointing that out, I realized that the commands were the same as the dialogue boxes. Thank you for your help and have a great day!
