Welcome to Product Potpourri Episode 2!
Over the past few months, we've gotten more great questions from our students during our Instructor lead classes. Here are the latest four, but if you're interested in having a question answered from your classes let us know in the reply section below!
For now though… on with the Product Potpourri!
- In Cost Transparency, in the allocation screen for cost modeling, why can't I see all my columns when I try to use a column as a Weighting Factor?
- Most commonly in this situation, the column type for the column you're trying to utilize has not been set to the numeric type. Since this field requires that setting to even appear our recommendation is to first check to see if this is the issue. The second thing we'd recommend is to refresh your page. Occasionally if you have just entered data the system may not be refreshing immediately. If this happens save your work and then refresh your browser. One of these two is usually the solution folks are looking for.
- Can I schedule a report to be sent to me on a certain date/time?
- In most of Apptio's applications, this isn't currently possible. The only exception is Apptio Cloudability. That being said, if you'd like to offer this as a product enhancement request just talk with your Apptio team or you can send it in as a case to the Apptio Support team.
- How can I verify that I've manually uploaded the correct data into my table? Or better yet how can I verify after someone else has entered data if they entered the correct table?
- It's relatively easy to see the data that's been uploaded manually. First select the table you'd like to review, then in the Steps area choose the Upload Step. When you select this step you should see the file that was uploaded.
- Why is my =if formula not working? I copied it letter for letter from what you showed us to enter?
- In this situation, the student I was working with had used copy and paste to add their formula to the table. When they did so they forgot to delete the original equal sign that was in the cell. This caused his formula to read as ==if. If you are manually copying and pasting into the formula cells make sure to not accidentally add-in that extra equal sign. This is a common enough issue that it was quick to find the mistake, but make sure when you're copying your own formulas into Apptio to keep an eye out for that as well.
We'll be sharing more answers to questions we've received in class in future episodes of Product Potpourri so keep your eyes open for episode 3!
