I wonder if PPRC LINK can be longwave in the source DASD while shortwave port in the target DASD ? or there have to be converted ?

Hi Arthur, 

You concern is correct - you cannot connect a shortwave port to a longwave port at the other end. The shortwave port requires a multi-mode cable while the longwave port requires a single mode cable. There must be something, like a Fibre Channel switch or FCIP router, in between to do the conversion.
