PowerVC Images - Importing CloudReady Images

  • 1.  PowerVC Images - Importing CloudReady Images

    Posted Thu February 01, 2024 04:17 PM

    HI All,

While importing CloudReady ova Images, I found the following error message:

An error occurred while performing a storage operation for the volume restored_14197458-bfec-11ee-85d3-e29d46040602_4. Explanation: Bad or unexpected response from the storage volume backend API: Terminate volume connection failed: Bad or unexpected response from the storage volume backend API: CLI Exception output: command: ['svctask', 'rmvdiskhostmap', '-host', '"xxxxxxxxxxx"', '"v

This is caused by SAN (Storage backend) having VOLUME Protection enabled, which by best practices it should be enabled. Once Volume protection is turned off the import works fine.

Food for thought! This should be noted and corrected so the API uses some scheduling method to delay the deletion of the temp volume at a later stage!

     Regards,

    Sasi

    Hi,

PowerVC doesn't support volume protection being enabled on the storage side.  You need to disable it. I've been through the same discussion with our implementation.  If you really want, submit an idea to IBM to have them change the functioning of PowerVC.
