are there any ways to use non-IBM Services for Speech to Text and Text to Speech? 
The German Speech To Text Service misunderstands me in most cases, while the German voices from the Text to Speech Service don't sound very natural.

Hi Lars,

You can connect to third party speech services using a custom adapter.  Here is a link to the sample code for connecting to Google speech services.  Once the adapter is deployed, you can follow these instructions to configure your welcome node to use the service.
