  • 1.  PAX 2.0.80 with carbon: Viewer drill is missing

    Posted Fri February 10, 2023 10:08 AM

    We rely on drill through. When we enabled carbon the drill option is missing from the viewer. It works for all other modes though it is not yet a right click option.   I have searched but have found no references to drill being omitted in the new viewer

    Is it working in other clients? Possible rule error?

    Seems fine on 2.0.83

    Hi John,

    PAW support drill through:

    Drill on cube view
    You should be able to set your drill rules or process in Workbench on the cube:
    Drill cube process
    Best regards,

    Thanks Svetlana. It works in PAW but not in PAX, here is a screen shot of right click.  If I disable carbon and it returns to the old viewer the option appears and works, second screen shot. So it seems specific to the carbon viewer in PAX. Note I am using 2.0.80, maybe it has been released since.

    Apologies John, I had literally just drilled to one of my process error logs when your message popped up and misread PAX for PAW.

    The good news is that I just tried the right-click on the cube viewer on PAX 2.0.83 and I get the Drill option.

    I can also see the Drill Through enabled on the ribbon if I create an exploration.

    Unfortunately Dynamic and Custom reports on 2.0.83 are giving me RECALC_ABORT errors.

    I went back to PAX 2.0.80 to do some further testing. I cleared out my Office Connection folder but ket my CommManagerSettings and tm1features.json.
    Drill Through seems to be there for me in PAX 2.0.80 too.

    What have you got in your features file?
    I have the following:
    {
        "r74_EnableWebView2ForAuth": true,
        "EnableWebView2ForCarbon": true
    }

    Thanks George but no luck

    My json content is the same (Even copied yours to mine and restarted)

    Webview2 is installed/ running

    Same version 2.0.82.2

    Looks like one for support.

    Also, I have found that 'CognosOfficeReportingSettings' is another file with valuable settings worth keeping however for this purpose I left the autogenerated one.

    George, I'm wondering if the version of PAW is the issue. Which version do you have installed?

    Hi John - using PAW 2.0.83 atm - I fired up a model on PAW 2.0.80 with drill and have the drill option in PAW but not in PAX.

    This is consistent with your initial post.

    PAW 2.0.80

    PAX 2.0.83 connecting to PAW 2.0.80
