Has anyone been able to figure out if you can have the subset editor by default open to "All Roots" on the left pane so that you can search all elements easily?

By open you mean expanded?

We can always select 'All Members' from the drop down list in subset editor that lists all the elements to do a search.

As another work around, we can create a default subset with predefined elements (in this case all root elements expanded) and when we open a subset editor its this subset which opens by default.

Hi there, I  raised a ticket and feedback from IBM it is 'by design' and a new feature essentially. No there is no way to set up the 'Root' as the default, unless you create your default subset as a detailed subset (replicate the All roots)

My initial solution was to modify the default subset to look like "All Roots". That does not work because then you can just search the roots and not their descendants. 
Secondly, I built the default subset with all elements. This creates a mess when the dimension has 10 different hierarchies and 10000+ elements. Every view takes forever to load. 

I found a good work around that works perfectly. If I just delete the default subset, then it will default to "All Roots".

Or do create the default view using a subset name name other than "Default" to select the default elements?

1. Create the subsets with a name other than Default. I chose 'Standard' since this is also the German translation and still works in German language browser.
2. Create the View called 'Default' so that this is recognised by PAW as the default view but with 'Standard' subsets.
