I have a system running on OS400 V7R3 and Power 8 machines. Due to IBM's announcement of the EOS schedule, We plan to migrate to Power 10 and V7R5 OS.

I would like to ask:

1.When migrating to OS V7R5, do I need to adjust the original program? (EGL to COBOL) What precautions should I take?

2.How do I migrate the QEGL library on the original AS400 to the new environment?

  (1)Import/Export license program RBD 9.5.1

  (2)FTP library from V7R3 to R7R5

  (3)Build new library from QEGL.zip and make new configur setting.

  (4)Others

This is Suresh from RBD team. RBD 95X stream is out of support. Currently we are supporting RBD 96X and RBD 97X. 

RBD 97X and corresponding QEGL library supports the OS400 V7R5.

As RBD95X is out of support, we are not sure whether the corresponding QEGL.zip supports V7R5 or not.

Our best recommendation is to upgrade to RBD 97X stream and download the corresponding QEGL.Zip file.

Move the downloaded QEGL.ZIP file to new system OS400 V7R5.

Especially if you are using MQ operations in your programs then you should migrate to RBD 97X stream.

   Direct FTP or SAV/RESTORE of the QEGL library between V7R3 and V7R5 is not recommended.

Make sure the latest PTFs are applied and complete validation testing before production use.
