    Posted 10 days ago

    Hello fellow members,

In an earlier discussion, I asked about methods for evaluating and comparing the performance of different storage solutions. While I received some helpful pointers, I'm still looking for more specific guidance in three areas:

    1. What benchmarking tools are most reliable for different storage types (e.g., HDD, SSD, NVMe, SAN, object storage)?
    2. How should I interpret and weigh the results across varied workloads (random vs sequential, read vs write, IOPS vs bandwidth)?
    3. What real‑world metrics matter most for typical application scenarios (virtualization, databases, big data analytics, backup/recovery)?

I’d greatly appreciate any practical advice, tool recommendations, or links to benchmarking guides that address these points. Thank you in advance for your insights!

Hi i can recomend Crystaldiskinfo as there is a lot of way to simulate workload
There is also IO meter where you can build serveral workers to simulate real time workload.
and i also can recomend XorMon to minitor the workload whit.

    Regards Kenneth
