we have legacy workflow system running in OnPrem and want to migrate to Content Platform Engine(CPE) 5.5.8 workflow system, once we migrate we should be able to see open and close work items.

per my research lift and shift may not work here because lift & shift only works if it is CPE to CPE workflow system migration.

much appreciated if somebody can share thoughts on this requirement.

If you are looking to move the legacy workflow system to be colocated with an object store, then you might need to do some remediation if the workflows use attachments or are launched via events in additional object stores. I've attached a document that describes how to use database tools to move a legacy workflow region to be colocated with an object store.

You don't say what your current FileNet version is, so there might be additional work required if your current version is very old. Also, you should plan on moving quickly from 5.5.8 to 5.5.12 or 5.6, because 5.5.8 will only have full support for one more year.
