Hello,

While trying to load a new table schema to a data server connection in our development environment, I managed to accidentally hit the button to load everything.  The metadata load has now been stuck for 5 days, the cancel button does not do anything, and the only other option is to clear metadata, which I am trying to avoid so I don't have to rebuild everything.  We do not have a ton of things developed yet, as we are still very new to Cognos Analytics, but we were wondering if there was a better way to fix this problem.

Hi Taylor,

I've had this a few times myself, especially when looking at Oracle data sources. What's worked for me has been to uncheck the option "Retrieve sample row data" from within the Load options of the Data server connection.
I'll admit its not always worked but appears to have overcome most of my issues with this.

Hi Jonathan,

I am using a SQL Server source for this. Sadly, it will not even let me get to that screen to uncheck it.  My only current options are "cancel", which doesn't seem to do anything, and "clear metadata".  The "load options" is no longer there.

Thank you so much for your answer, though! I appreciate you taking the time for it.  I will keep this advice in mind for the future.
