  • 1.  Memory used by STAP

    Hi all:

    Anybody knows how many memory use in the server the STAP and modules under Linux and AIX? Normally when I tell to DBAs that we need to install an agent, the first question is thats.

    It depends on the setting of BUFFER_FILE_SIZE_MAX value in guard_tap.ini. It also have memory overhead, normally 40-100MB range. So if BUFFER_FILE_SIZE_MAX is 500MB, STAP may consume memory up to 540-600MB. Hope it helps.

    The Buffer_file_size_max doesn't exist (in version 11.0) but I understand that is the same as  BUFFER_FILE_SIZE and this value is by default in 50. So, your answer can help me. Thank you.
