I came across a question about Tapelibraries. Is a lib able to send an e-Mail, when a cartridge is removed from the lib (via export) or not. Cartridge exported but not removed from the lib.
I do not know a solution, that is able to do that?

Any idea?

Hi Martin,

you would like to get a notification when a cartridge was checked out/removed from the library?

Moving a cartridge within a TS4500 to the IO-station will cause an Information event "Cartridge setting was changed".

A SMTP recipient which is configured to receive events of type Information will receive an accoding e-mail.

But there are other actions like assigning or re-assigning a cartridge to a logical library will create the same events.

Another possibility is using the REST API for querying the library regarding a single cartridge or even all cartridges located in the library.

The goal is to find out if a cartridge was removed from the lib. Forwarding all informational mails contains this information, but must be filtered well. Is there a similar solution for the TS4300 and the former TS3100/TS3200 as well?

Hi Martin,

yes, the TS4300 can send e-mails for this information event as well. But who will receive that notification mails can't get configured on a recipient granularity level, as it can be done using the TS4500.

All configured email recipients will receive that information/mail.

Because the last time i used a TS3100/TS3200 is very long ago, i can't remember if this is possible there, too.

But i would recommend to use the REST API in TS4300 to query the library. The REST API is no "rocket technology".
