The issue that you get with any kind of shrinkage (to borrow a term from Seinfeld), is that the data placement and reallocation could be challenging to say the least. So, if arrays need to be reduced in size the best way to handle it is with a backup and restore after reformatting the system the way that you need it.
Even shrinking volumes can create nightmares because you don't know how the application or operating system is going to deal with things.

For expansion there is the expandarray command. There is no shrinkarray command (or something similar).
You could migrate the data from the pool to another pool and then clean up the pool and rearrange it with the correct number of drives

Subject: Mdisk shrink
Hi,
I know that a draid mdisk can be expanded since 8.3.x or 8.4.x but what about the reverse process ? Can I shrink a draid mdisk if there is enough free space on it ? For example, I want to remove one drive from an draid6 mdisk keeping the draid structure unchanged (redundancy and spare area) and changing only the usable capacity. Is it possible ?
Thanks.
