    2. How is data filtered for different users and roles?  Is this done in the same way as Anywhere?

    3. Are their limitations with the customizations possible with Maximo mobile?

    4. Is it easy for customers to make changes with Maximo mobile?

    5. Can new stand alone apps be created?

Here are answers to your MAS Mobile questions based on the available documentation:

    1. Does Maximo Mobile support role-specific apps, i.e., different app fields, screens, rules, and flow?

      • Yes, Maximo Mobile supports role-based applications such as Technician and Inspections. These applications can have unique settings and object structures that control access to data, defining different fields, screens, rules, and workflows per role.
    2. How is data filtered for different users and roles? Is this done in the same way as Anywhere?

      • Data filtering is managed through object structures and security settings. Maximo Mobile allows administrators to control user access through security groups, object structures, and role-based application settings. The filtering process is somewhat similar to Anywhere but leverages OSLC/REST API calls for data exchange.
    3. Are there limitations with the customizations possible with Maximo Mobile?

      • Customization is possible using the Maximo Application Framework (MAF) on 9.0 you need to have a Docker on your PC on 9.1 is planned to be inside MAS.
      • Configuration application. You can modify applications, add fields, adjust layouts, and apply business rules. However, there are constraints, such as compatibility with future upgrades and the need to use delta files for updating customized apps.
    4. Is it easy for customers to make changes with Maximo Mobile?

      • Yes, the MAF Configuration application simplifies customization. It provides a graphical interface for modifying apps and applying security settings. Changes can be tested and deployed without extensive coding.
    5. Can new standalone apps be created?

      • Yes, new applications can be developed using the Application Designer and the Maximo Application Framework. This allows customers to create and modify apps based on their specific business needs.
    6. What are data sync and storage limitations?

      • Maximo Mobile uses a local JSON data store that is encrypted. Sync operations can be reviewed, and administrators can monitor storage usage on the device. Sync statistics are available to troubleshoot and optimize data exchanges.
    7. What are Maximo Mobile's offline limitations?

      • While offline, Maximo Mobile allows users to work with locally stored data. However, some actions require authentication, and if the user's session expires, they need to reconnect. Additionally, data sync must be completed when back online to ensure updates are reflected in Maximo Manage.

Let me know if you need more details!

About 3 and 5, I can confirm that the possibilities for customization are very high, so much so that it is possible to create complete applications (like this one for example) and as a last resort even custom UI components (for example, we created an indoor map for those who do not have ArcGIS).

Here's an expanded and clarified version of your questions on Maximo Mobile (MAS):

    1. Does Maximo Mobile support role-specific apps, including customized fields, screens, business rules, and workflows?

      • How does Maximo Mobile handle different user roles in terms of the user interface (UI)? Can fields, screens, business rules, and workflows be customized based on specific roles, allowing a tailored experience for users with different permissions and responsibilities?
    2. How is data filtered for different users and roles in Maximo Mobile?

      • How does Maximo Mobile handle user-specific data access? Is the data filtering process similar to how it's done in Maximo Anywhere? Are there specific configurations or mechanisms to ensure that users only have access to the data relevant to their role and permissions?
    3. Are there any limitations on customizations in Maximo Mobile?

      • What kind of customizations can be made within Maximo Mobile? Are there restrictions or limitations on modifying the user interface, workflows, or integration with other systems? How flexible is Maximo Mobile in adapting to unique business needs?
    4. How easy is it for customers to make changes and customizations to Maximo Mobile?

      • What is the level of difficulty for customers who wish to customize Maximo Mobile to fit their specific needs? Does it require significant technical expertise, or can customers with limited technical knowledge make changes to the app? Are there tools or resources to help customers modify the app?
    5. Can new standalone apps be created within Maximo Mobile?

      • Is it possible to create entirely new, standalone applications using Maximo Mobile, or are users limited to customizing existing apps? How flexible is the platform in allowing the development of new, independent apps that can run alongside the standard Maximo Mobile functionality?
    6. What are the data synchronization and storage limitations in Maximo Mobile?

      • What are the limitations regarding data synchronization between Maximo Mobile and the main Maximo system? Are there restrictions on the amount of data that can be synced or stored locally on the mobile device? How does Maximo Mobile handle data storage in offline scenarios?
    7. What are the offline functionality limitations of Maximo Mobile?

      • How does Maximo Mobile perform when the device is offline or has limited connectivity? What features and capabilities are available in offline mode? Are there any limitations in terms of data access, updates, or transactions while offline?

The latest Maximo Mobile uses SQLCipher database, which is a fork of SQLite database.
