A good example is the use of bar/QR code readers that are connected to the mobile device either with a cable or perhaps via Bluetooth. No matter the mobile application, the User is on a field and the scanning device in essence replaces the keyboard. The values in the bar/QR code being scanned are entered into the field. The User can then search or create new records per the application. For the other devices you mention, in particular thermo guns, perhaps you want their output to be in the form of a file (a picture) that is first stored on the mobile device, then perhaps attached to the open record in the Mobile app. More sophisticated interfacing between a mobile data capture device and Mobile application may (most likely) will require changes to the Mobile app and perhaps the Maximo back end as well. (For example having specific data elements such as temperature readings coming/triggered from the handheld device, being directed to specific fields in the Mobile app)
