  • 1.  Maximo Mobile 8.10 - Clicking on previous page in ASSETMOBILE opening a TECHNICIAN app in new tab and landing on WO list page instead of previously opened workorder

    Posted Thu December 21, 2023 02:39 PM

In Technician app, open workorder detail page, then scroll down to ASSET and Location section, then click on right chevron icon to navigate to ASSET PAGE, where it will show the more details of workorder asset. then click on previous page , then it is opening a TECHNICIAN app in new tab in the browser and landing on WO List view(card group) page instead of navigating back to previosly opened workorder.

Has any one any idea on the above on whether this is product behavior or is this some kind of bug?

First, does navigating back from assetmobile to previous app should open it in a new tab??
2nd, does navigating back from assetmobile should land in previous workorder or it should land in list page?

    Please share your inputs, Thanks.

Since you're talking about new tabs you're talking about in the web. I just tested this scenario in a version of 8.10 & 8.11 using the back arrow we provide and using the back arrow of my browser (which I would not recommend) and it worked as expected for me where it took me to the asset and back to the appropriate WO all in a single tab. Since you're on 8.10, this is my version for that environment:

    Hi Steven,

Sorry, I did not mean browser previous button. I meant carbon-left-chevron icon in asset mobile page itself when we navigate to it via from asset and location section via WO Details page.

For us, clicking on the left chevron icon – top right , navigates us to a new tab and it shows WO card list view.

    Regards,

I don't know if it's relevant but both on 8.10 and 8.11 it opens in the same tab for me in Edge, Chrome, & Firefox. Can you see if you have a browser setting enabled that causes it to open all links inside a new tab? It's possible that's causing an issue with how we pass contexts between the applications.

    Hi @Steven Shull,

    Thank you for the response.

I don't think this is happening due to browser issue. Today I found another weird behavior thing.

    Below is the scenario.

    Scenario1:

Open technician -> Open one workorder -> Navigate to Asset from Asset and location -> comeback to workorder page by clicking on previous page(left chevron icon on top left in Maximo mobile RBA app) -> it will take you to a new tab showing workorder list page with assigned WO query.

    Scenario 2:

Open technician -> open one workorder (having inspection) -> navigate to inspection page by clicking on inspection icon -> it navigates to inspection rba app -> click on previous page button (mobile rba one and not browser previous page) -> this takes you back to WO details page (correct behavior) -> now navigate to ASSET page from asset and location section  and come back to previous page again -> this time it works fine - it goes back to WO details page and stays in the same tab.

Not sure what to check here. Any advice here?

    Thanks in Advance.

A support ticket is your best bet at this point. There's nothing I can do to help because I can't recreate it and it's not something I've seen documented as an issue in any of our systems. There may be something about your environment (such as your specific patch level) that is impacting it or something else related to your configuration. Support will have access to (or can provision) a system on the same patch level and see if it's something that can be recreated out of the box. If they can recreate it, then they can confirm if it's still an issue in the most recent patches.
