    Posted Thu May 29, 2025 07:03 AM

    Hi All,

Maximo ACM with BDI service is a great product but understanding this product is too tricky on how it behaves with core Maximo and Maximo ACM for full functionality.

Does anyone have any guidance for this? Or discuss on this thread to learn more about it. I have opened this thread to get to know about it.

Please feel free to post and ask or provide guidance in this area.

Topic to discuss on this thread:

Generating Work Orders for the scheduled PM with CM Assets. There is a lot of functionality behind this in ACM. But what is that lot I'm also not sure of. Still exploring and digging more.

    Hi Prashant

I'd not worry about how it works, and there is just too much black box about it.

As for generating PM work orders, there is no magic there.  What is the magic is getting the PM to be created when you add a new CM asset.  Then how the BDI knows if you've gone past the due date of the PM.

It will be interesting what others saying.

    Hi Criag,

Thanks for writing and starting this conversation totally agree on the part of black box!

I feel the BDI Async jobs are doing a lot of checks and which are dependent on the data selected in the PLUSA% tables. But I'm just aware of 1% maybe of what I'm saying so need a lot to play around.

Hoping this thread we can learn more about it and share to learn together to know exact thing!

    Hello Prashant,

I'm working with ACM and BDI (functional side), for railway train maintenance, for 2 years and I agree with you and Craig: some things are a magic in it !
We are testing a lot and have alway suprises (good or bad...)

The main difficulty when you start with ACM is to switch your mind about Asset Structure management, PM management, Meter management, condition based maintenance.

BDI is very powerfull and automates the creation and update of many data that you used to manage manually.

And if you use Maximo for Complexe Asset (former Maximo for Aviation), you will have some differencies in the ACM management...

I'll be happy to share what I know about and learn from other Maximo Experts all that I don't know until now ! :)

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for writing back and I'm so agreeing with you on the points of shifting mindset on topics Asset Structure management, PM management, Meter management, condition based maintenance as I have been through. ACM behaves completely different from the core Maximo functionalities.

It would great to share here on the topics that we discovered so that we all can learn something new from our findings which will help all of us implement and use this product at max.

    Hi Prashant,

In ACM Maximo, the WO can be generated by a PM with Alert reading - that is creating WO ahead of Alert reading. It will be executed if you enable the Events Inactive ? flag to false in Models application and activate the BDI specific cron task. PlusABDIAsyncImmediateJobCron.  This cron task instance can be used to change PM status, Generate PM records from Master PM , Create WO from PM using alert point and Create PM records when Assets are created.

You can still use the OOB PM cron task available in Maximo (without ACM), if you set Events Inactive? flag to True in Models application and activate PMWoGenCronTask cron task.

    Hi Suren,

Thanks for writing, this is one of the learnings that PM with CM assets can generate workorders from both BDI cron and OOB cron with just a check box, this is very good to know concept. Thank you for this valuable insight.

Also, we noticed that in Assets(CM) application the Maintenance Plan, Active Date Reviewed checkbox also makes a difference for BDI cron task instance to generate the Work Order.

It seems there are multiple factors for it to generate the WO.
