Maximo 7.5/7.6 with Oracle 12c database

We are planning a Maximo upgrade at present from 7.1.1.11 to 7.6. Our initial plan did not include an Oracle DB update however it has been brough to our attention that 11g, which we are currently on, is running out of support next year. Therefore we are considering moving to 12c

Just wondering if anyone out there has already made this move and if so, would be willing to share any lessons learned, issues or risks etc and perhaps take a call?

If you plan on using Oracle 12c on 7.1, you have to be on Maximo 7.1.1.13 according to the Maximo Platform Matrix. My opinion is that you don't have to perform a database upgrade along with application server (WebSphere or WebLogic) and Maximo application if you're on 7.1.1.13. You can focus on the Maixmo upgrade only if you're going to Maximo 7.5 assuming you have WebSphere 7 already. If you're going to Maximo 7.6, you'll also have to upgrade your WebSphere to 8.5 or 8.5.5

We are moving to Maximo 7.6 and Websphere 8 - my query is should we move to 12c also and if anyone is already using 12c with Maximo 7.5 or 7.6 and had any issues with it? Our other option is to move to 7.6 and stay on Oracle 11g

We've been using 7.5.0.8 with Oracle 12c for over a year now. We haven't had any issues. Extended support will cost you more starting May 2017 for Oracle 11g. https://blogs.oracle.com/UPGRADE/entry/no_extra_fee_for_extended

If nothing else, you'll be reducing your support costs by staying current and on a version of Oracle that will cost less to support.
