    Hello Everyone,

I am planning to upgrade IBM Maximo 7.6.1.2 to the latest MAS version and would appreciate your guidance on the following:

    1. The possible options available to perform the upgrade.
    2. The detailed steps involved for each option.
    3. The risks related to each option.

There are many options/opinions about how to ensure an easy transition from Maximo 7.6.1.x to MAS.

IBM has many links on the subject, one of which is here:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/masv-and-l/cd?topic=upgrading-from-maximo-asset-management-maximo-manage

For us (trmgroup) some of the points for success have been:

    1. An underlying RHOS environment that was initially calculated using the IBM Infrastructure Calculator spreadsheet... and adding compute capabilities beyond that for good measure.
    2. Be sure Admin staff are well versed in RHOS, especially if you are running your own local/on-prem instance.
    3. Be at 7.6.1.3 and fully patched.
    4. Have a clear understanding of any Java customizations that have been made to 7.x
    5. Be prepared to run the upgrade 1, 2, and maybe 3 times to/on a development system to work out any issues.
    6. If you are changing databases... say MS SQL to IBM db2, be aware of any data transformations that need to occur prior to loading.
    7. Be well aware of any integrations that also need to be migrated.

We have done many, many upgrades and most actually go very smoothly. Hope this helps a bit.

I understand your point. Based on the considerations mentioned above, would it be appropriate for us to proceed with upgrading IBM Maximo to MAS for a more streamlined management approach?

Additionally, have you explored using migration packages as part of the upgrade process? For example, extracting the required migration packages from IBM Maximo, performing a fresh installation of MAS Manage, and then importing those packages-would this be a viable approach?

@Tinnokesh AP, thank you-I'm already aware of the above links. However, I'm currently exploring upgrade approaches that have been implemented and tested, to identify the most stable option.
