MAS 9.1 and Manage 9.1 Installation

  • 1.  MAS 9.1 and Manage 9.1 Installation

    Posted Thu August 14, 2025 12:11 AM

    Hello

Has anyone been able to successfully install MAS 9.1 and Manage 9.1? I tried to perform an install using the v9-250624 catalog and had issues installing Manage, specifically the oidcclientreg pod failed. I noticed that this was described as an issue and fixed in catalog v9-250731. I subsequently tried this catalog and sure enough, Manage installed without these errors.

However I'm still having trouble logging in to Manage.

Can anyone tell me if they have been able to successfully install MAS 9.1? If so, what catalog version did you use? Did you do anything different to your process of installing MAS 9.0?

    Thanks

    Hi Aneesh,

We upgraded our dev instance to 9.1 using the same methods you described. We're currently able to log in with our admin accounts only because we had modified them in 9.0.

However, we're now experiencing issues with user sync and have lost the ability to change passwords through the UI. While it's technically possible to update passwords directly in MongoDB, doing so by accessing the Mongo pod feels a bit cumbersome and not ideal for someone who isn't familiar with that kind of devops workflow.

Also, just to note-I'm currently a catalog behind you. We successfully upgraded using the v9-250624 catalog. I'm planning to apply the catalog you mentioned and will circle back once I've done that.

Let me know if you discover anything on your end. I have an open case with IBM about the issue if you would like to reference it when you're troubleshooting: TS019795132

    Best,

    Hey Brett

Thanks for your message. Good to know about your installation path. I might try an upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1. I've only tried installing a new instance of 9.1.

Will definitely let you know if I discover anything.

    Good luck!

    Cheers

    Hello Everyone

Just an update on this. I was able to successfully upgrade to MAS 9.1.1 and Manage 9.1.1 from a MAS 9.0 installation (which seems to be the process that everyone else followed on this thread). The process was relatively smooth and hassle free. I used the latest catalog v9-250731.

I think the issue I'm experiencing is only during a fresh greenfields installation.

I will have to try again and report back.

    Cheers

Interesting, Brett. We are having the same issues. Only able to login with ADMIN accounts and Users are not synching. We went from 9.1 (pre-release) to 9.11 in June.We have been working with IBM on this issue without success thus far. While the environment say that we are upgraded, our workspace has never succesfully activated. Original error: Unhandled error from licensing system, check server logs.

    Hi Richard

Which catalog version did you use? Try using v9-250731 which is the latest one.

    Regards

Aneesh, we did use that version. Yesterday, IBM had us perform the ansible installation again. This did not help. We are receiving the following error: "no_log error when trying to deploy maxinst".

    Hi Brett,

maybe this technote can address the issue: MAS 9.1 – Superuser Unable to Access Security Applications

    Thanks Diego,

IBM provided this technote for initial troubleshooting, but our maxpropvalue wasn't null, so I didn't see a need to proceed with the rsync step.

The console is indicating issues retrieving data from the authusers table. However, I don't see a table called authusers. The closest I can find is authroleuser. When I query the table, it's empty, so that might be our culprit. I'm not entirely sure what data is expected in that table to satisfy the JS query.

    Hi Aneesh,

We've used both catalogs successfully when upgrading internal development environments first to MAS 9.1.0 (catalog v9-250624), then to MAS 9.1.1 (catalog v9-250731).

Although there were some issues in the first hours for the first catalog with Docker images accessibility, eventually the issues were solved and the installation went fine. Currently we do not experience any issues with oidcclientreg pods, they show the status "Completed". I suggest you share the logs of the failed pods if you need any further guidance.

@Jan-Willem Steur performed both upgrades so perhaps he can share more details.

    Hi Ivan

Thanks for your message! I might try and do an upgrade path like you did from 9.0 to 9.1. I've only tried doing a new instance of 9.1.

    Cheers
