    Hi Ritesh:

Look at my blog post below for useful information (this was done on Feb 2025 and may be somewhat outdated in case IBM fixed some of the issues especially regarding versions).

    Hi Julio,

    Thank you for the response.

Does this need separate license for AI Broker installation?

Went through couple of links, somewhere it uses the term Maximo AI Service or AI Broker. So, is there any difference between AI Broker and Maximo AI service?

And I guess we need Essential plan license (not LITE plan as per your article) for IBM Watsonx.ai. Please confirm.

Additionally, I was going through the catalog in IBM Cloud. There are three things related to watsonx.ai.

    • Watsonx.ai studio (LITE and PROFESSIONAL plan)
    • watsonx.ai runtime (LITE and ESSENTIAL plan and more)
    • object storage (5GB Free storage and pay for extra)

I think we need to enable all 3 of above services from catalog, right? Please advise.

    Anything else I am missing?

    Please share your thought, Thanks.

    Hi Ritesh:

Does this need separate license for AI Broker installation?

    >> As per https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/masv-and-l/cd?topic=ons-maximo-ai-service there is need to purchase the new Maximo AI Service. See below for discussion about what that is and recent changes to IBM documentation.

Went through couple of links, somewhere it uses the term Maximo AI Service or AI Broker. So, is there any difference between AI Broker and Maximo AI service?

    >> Apparently the AI Broker is the underlying implementation of the integration component, but the IBM documentation at this time is inconsistent as they have been adding and modifying without actually making things clearer especially regarding the installation steps which are no longer in their site. Apparently, the solution is now named "Maximo AI Service" but the configuration pages still mention that the integration is done through the AI Broker as per https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/masv-and-l/maximo-manage/cd?topic=integration-configuring-maximo-manage-ai

    >> You don't need the Studio (Watsonx.ai studio (LITE and PROFESSIONAL plan)) for testing/using the AI Broker.

    Anything else I am missing?

    >> As per above, at the time of writing my article, the installation was able to be completed and it worked. But IBM has been doing subsequent changes to it apparently and there were several caveats in my blog post as well.

    Hope all the above helps.

    Thanks

    Hi Julio,

I am testing AI Broker with MAS 9.0 instance.

All pre-requisites are completed. while installing AIBROKER via ansible, pods of aibroker are going into crashloop.

pod "ds-pipeline-instance" keeps running into CrashLoopBackOff status.

Below error is showing in the event.

Liveness probe failed: Get "http://10.130.3.120:8888/apis/v1beta1/healthz": dial tcp 10.130.3.120:8888: connect: connection refused

And this POD "ds-pipeline-persistenceagent-instance" also going crashloopbackoff status.

Event tab showing this error - Back-off restarting failed container ds-pipeline-persistenceagent in pod ds-pipeline-persistenceagent-instance-8cb69659c-kv55t_mas-maspprd-aibroker(fc794e2b-52df-41df-944e-e27e145753b1)

    Please advise if any idea.

    Hi Ritesh:

The error you are seeing on the "ds-pipeline-instance" Pod is basically that the service fails to successfully start.

On itself it is non descriptive as the Pod has a "liveness" probe that asks itself "are we ready" and that is what seems to be failing. There should be other previous more descriptive errors in the logs that may point to the primary cause.

The other pod that you mention "ds-pipeline-persistenceagent-instance" depends on the "ds-pipeline-instance" so that's the reason it is failing as well.

Also, please try to reason around my old article as all pre-requisites must be fulfilled (such as MariaDB and the Minio/S3 buckets).

    Regards,

    Hi Ritesh,
I suggest waiting for version 9.1, which is expected to be available next Tuesday (IBM Maximo Application Suite 9.1 introduces new suite components, and enhancements for select suite components - IBM Documentation).
This is because the functional and licensing aspects may differ from those of the previous version.
