Looking for confirmation the Map Viz does or does not work with (US) zip codes.
Splitting the value, defining as a string or as numeric has not worked.
Must I bring in coordinates? If so, please note as most users have zip or province codes, not lat/long data, would be a nice enhancement.

    Thank you

DOES work. You do not have to bring in lat/lon's. See sample provided with base install - Samples > Dashboards > California website visits.

If Cognos can't do zipcodes (I don't know), then these datasets might be useful.

Maps are supporting zipcodes - if you want to see what CA expects in terms of formats, take a look at: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEP7J_11.1.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_ca_dshb.doc/ca_concept_using_maps.html and the Github link in there.
Very useful for seeing the region names and their alias'
