Hi there. I am new to Cognos and trying to visualize some districts (bydeler) in Oslo that are represented as one column in my spreadsheet. The districts are not mapped according to the "Admin Boundaries" file on IBM box, but the districts are shown if I zoom into the map on visualizations.
So, first questions: Is there any way I can make the map recognize the listed districts in my colum without using MapBox? I've tried every sub selections in representations in the data module (city, county etc.) but get the error "unrecognized location". 

If not, I have to use MapBox(?)
I have no experience with JSON files or Mapbox but tried to follow the explanation in the catalog. I found this geoJSON file which contains the districts: https://www.eriksmistad.no/upload/kommuner.json
I managed to upload it to Mapbox as a tileset, but cannot find a way to download it to my computer as a tileset and then upload it as a source in Cognos.

Hi Sofie,

You should not have to upload your json file into Cognos. The idea is that in the data you want to analyse there is a column that corresponds to a column in the JSON (For example the name of the district).

When you create a new map in Cognos, in the properties of the map, in the region section, you fill in the Mapbox MapId, The Layer Name of your JSON in that map, and the name of the column on mapbox of the name of the District (in this example).

Then you drag the name of the district in Cognos to the locations slot of the map and a measure you want to visualise into the Region Color or Size slot.  That should work.


Technically, what will happen now, is that in your browser, the data for the map is downloaded (so, measure, per district). Also, the polygons for districts are downloaded from Mapbox. Your browser will then match the 2 and color them according to your design.
