The Maps Overview page in the docs says maps can have a zoom slider:

"A slider that you use to zoom in and out of the current map extent."

I don't think I have a zoom slider in any of my Maximo maps. How can I enable this?

Hello, the slider was replaced by buttons in the ESRI Javascript API and this affected our map. I sent a request to update our documentation.
