To make things simpler in Maximo, I'm thinking about creating special folders for pictures attached to things like Assets or Locations. This way, we can keep the images right on the record in Maximo for easy access and organization. Additionally, I'm looking into using in-app tools to help us see these attached images more easily, especially if they're 360-degree photos of areas like plant rooms that can look weird when you view them in their original stretched-out form. If anyone, like @Grant Newton, has already done this, it would be great to hear their thoughts and experiences with linking images to external storage in Maximo. https://welpix.com/

Looking into this myself in 2022 and after doing a bit of google searching who should I find with a similar question?!
I may also consider going the other way - creating a new folder for attachments in Assets or Locations etc to store images on the record itself within Maximo.
I'll also be considering in app viewers to preview the attachment images, given some will be 360 photos of plant rooms etc that don't display well when viewing the raw stretched out image.
@Grant Newton given you've done this already by now, care to share your thoughts and feelings on image linking to external storage etc within Maximo?

Subject: Managing photos of assets
Our photos are of electricity transmission assets, including as-builts, along with photos referencing condition, defects, during construction etc. These photos are used for a variety of activities, but include making asset management decisions.
While many of the photos are taken while performing work orders that originate in Maximo, we are looking to keep these off the Maximo servers, and stored in a place which is easy to search (from a variety of different applications), manage in bulk (e.g. apply metadata etc).
We will store standard photograph metadata, along with details of site, network location, asset ID, and for certain photos, make, model etc of asset, retention and disposal policy etc.
Looks like we will manage in a Sharepoint Asset library in the interim, but plan on a long term solution within the next 18 months .... maybe SharePoint based.
So would be keen to hear what other asset intensive businesses are using to manage photos of their assets ..... and what integration they have to Maximo.
